Introduction to Academic Research

Use fundamental concepts from the philosophy of science (e.g., causality, validity, and threats to validity) to evaluate and critique various approaches to researching issues in accounting.
Identify an interesting and consequential issue in accounting and develop related ideas and theory into an interesting, motivated, and researchable question.
Develop the ability to apply tools from the philosophy of science to effectively critique actual research papers.
Communicate complex topics relating to academic research both orally and in writing.
