Course Outcomes: 

Informed awareness of culture and diversity.

Students will acquire informed awareness from reliable sources of culture and diversity within individuals, families, and communities as it affects health care decision-making and health seeking behaviors in a culture outside their own.

Impact of social determinants on global health and health care systems.

Students will articulate an understanding of the impact of social determinants (political, social, cultural, and environmental issues) and health care systems on health outcomes in the United States and globally.

Personal limitations and culturally competent care.

Students will assess their ability to provide culturally competent care and increase their desire to learn from others and integrate cultural competency as a life-long learning process.

Culturally sensitive care to diverse populations.

Students will provide culturally sensitive health care for the needs of patients, families, and communities, with particular emphasis on the needs of diverse populations.

Thoughtful reflection.

Students will experience thoughtful reflection on culture and diversity within individuals, families, and communities as it affects health care decision-making and health seeking behaviors in a culture outside their own in a structured, guided manner.
