Title

Biblical Archaeology

Learning Outcome

Students will gain knowledge of the development of Biblical archaeology as a field within the overall umbrella of the discipline of anthropology. This study will include extensive study of the both the defining personalities and methodologies in this sub-area of archaeology, as well as the major excavated sites in the Levant associated with Biblical events. Students will also gain a knowledge of the historical development of the Near East through its archaeological contexts, and the debates existing between differing methodologies associated with the use of the Bible as a primary document.
