MUS 273B - Percussion Techniques

Learning Outcome

Students will become familiar with basic techniques on instruments from Africa, Brazil, Cuba, the Middle East, Asia, and other parts of the world. Some exposure to these exotic instruments will take place with an emphasis of “hands on” experiences.  Application of these techniques will be related to literature and recordings as well as an understanding of basic maintenance, tuning and care of the instruments.  Students will be able to demonstrate their ability to play these instruments in a variety of performance situations with confidence.
