Third-Year Spanish Reading, Grammar, and Culture
Spanish and Portuguese College of Humanities
Intensive study and practice with Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and writings incorporating cultural and literary readings.
Grade Rule 8: A, B, C, D, E, I (Standard grade rule)
Minimum of one year in a Spanish-speaking mission or equivalent language immersion experience, or course work through SPAN 206 or equivalent. Intermediate High to Advanced Low proficiency expected. See department website for more information.
Demonstrate linguistic proficiency
Demonstrate skills characteristic of the Advanced proficiency level (as defined by the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines) in presentational, interpretive, and interpersonal communication.
Demonstrate understanding of Hispanic cultures
Identify and describe cultural themes and topics from a variety of regions and peoples from the Spanish-speaking world.
Develop linguistic self-awareness
Assess areas of strength and weakness in their Spanish skills and identify specific areas for improvement.
Analyze literary works
Identify and analyze a selection of literary works in Spanish.
