Title
1. Principles of Diffusion-Weighted Image Acquisition
Learning Outcome
Students will explain the physical and mathematical principles underlying diffusion-weighted imaging and diffusion tensor modeling, including the assumptions and limitations of commonly used metrics.
Title
2. Diffusion Data Processing and Analysis
Learning Outcome
Students will implement and document a complete diffusion data processing pipeline, including preprocessing, tensor estimation, and tract-based or voxelwise statistical analysis in ways that reflect scientific integrity and respect for research participants.
Title
3. Interpretation of Diffusion Metrics
Learning Outcome
Students will interpret diffusion metrics (e.g., FA, RD, MD) in relation to white matter microstructure, recognizing both the biological inferences and the methodological constraints of these measures.
Title
4. Design of Diffusion-Based Research
Learning Outcome
Students will formulate a theoretically grounded research proposal using diffusion-weighted imaging, articulating clear hypotheses, justified acquisition parameters, and appropriate analytic strategies with attention to ethical stewardship of data and methods.
