Course Description

This course will develop students' understanding of the fundamentally historical dimensions of anthropology, both in terms of subject matter and execution. Skills students will acquire will include: expository and critical treatment of: ethnohistory; historical archaeology; primary and secondary historical research; time and temporality; myth and history; synchrony and diachrony; structure and agency; historiography; oral history; anthropology of history; and past making in different cultures and social groups.
