Course Outcomes:
Reading and Analytic Skills
Students will develop the capacity to read and understand Old Icelandic texts with considerable facility and develop an appreciation for the richness and variety of Old Icelandic literature through close readings from a variety of sagas and poetry.
Linguistic Skills
Students will build upon their previous knowledge of Icelandic (whether as a missionary or through Icelandic 202) by strengthening their understanding of its complex grammar. Students will also develop a clear understanding of the morphological, phonological, syntactic, and semantic differences between Old and Modern Icelandic.
