Learning Outcome

Students will be able to identify and discuss basic semantic and pragmatic concepts such as sense, reference, deixis, perlocution, illocution, entailment, implicature, metaphor, Gricean Maxims, etc.

Analyzing Spoken and Written Texts

Learning Outcome

Students will be able to apply the above concepts towards the analysis of spoken and written texts, demonstrating their knowledge and understanding in a written paper.
