Constitutional Doctrines

Learning Outcome

Students will understand and be able to critically discuss and apply the various constitutional doctrines articulated by the Supreme Court under the Privileges or Immunities Clause of Article IV, the Due Process Clause of the 5th Amendment, and the Privileges or Immunities, Equal Protection, and Due Process Clauses of the 14th Amendment.

Learning Outcome

Students will understand official LDS doctrines and policies on questions of racial equality, gender equality, abortion, and same-sex marriage, and be able to intelligently and respectfully discuss whether or to what extent such doctrines and policies should be incorporated into American constitutional law.
