Articulate and demonstrate healthy vocal technique and choral habits required for successful performance, and incorporate principle-based vocal instruction in a choral rehearsal setting.

Learning Outcome

Analyze choral scores in preparation to teach. This will include identifying textual, formal, and other salient features of the piece, singing and playing through all the parts, marking your score and conducting, deciding how to introduce a piece, predicting challenges in a piece, and writing an 8 week rehearsal plan.

Course Purpose

Learning Outcome

The purpose of this course is to provide a foundation for best practices in teaching vocalists in choral ensembles. It is hoped that you will improve your individual singing and choral rehearsal techniques, as well as score analysis and conducting skills.
