Analyze the assumptions about human nature that underlie major psychological traditions. Students will compare and contrast the philosophical and theoretical commitments of historical schools of thought, tracing how these assumptions have shaped - and continue to shape - contemporary psychology.

Evaluating Historical Influences on Theory and Practice
Learning Outcome
Evaluate how historical and conceptual developments in psychology inform current theory and practice. Students will assess the implications of foundational ideas for the research questions, methods, and interpretive frameworks used in their own areas of study.

Articulate a reasoned intellectual identity within the discipline's ongoing debates.
