Course Description
Students will work to improve speaking and listening skills in Japanese that will assist them in moving toward Superior ranking, including stating abstract opinions, supporting opinions, hypothesizing, and doing professional oral tasks.

Superior level proficiency
Learning Outcome
Students will be able to use Japanese at a level approaching Superior on the ACTFL proficiency guidelines to extensively state and support opinions on abstract topics of general interest.

Learning Outcome
Students will apply superior-level oral skills to accomplish the following professional tasks: debate, formal presentations, speeches, and leading discussions on topics of general interest.

Writing opinion essays
Learning Outcome
Students will write essays in Japanese that analyze, respond to, and express personal opinions on current events and issues. These essays will be developed over several drafts.
