Title
1. Familiarity with industrial sensors.
Learning Outcome
Students will be competent with a wide variety of common industrial sensors and know how they work. Students will be able to look up relevant data from sensor spec sheets, including useful operating ranges, resolution, lag, and errors associated with each sensor. (Learning outcome 6- Experimentation).
Title
2. Sensor behavior.
Learning Outcome
Students will be aware of the limitations and proper usage of each sensor and how this affects the measurements. Students will mathematically describe sensor responses to various input, including 0th, 1st, and 2nd order systems, amplitude ratios, and frequency responses. (Learning outcomes 1, 6- Complex Engineering Problems, Experimentation).
Title
3. Data acquisition.
Learning Outcome
Students will be familiar with different data acquisition techniques and equipment, and be able to evaluate the quality and reliability of sensor output; including how to use correct sampling frequencies, filter data signals, and make decisions based on sensor data. (Learning outcome 7- New Knowledge).
