Study of the theory and practice of the hybrid composer-performer through research into prominent composer-performers, discussion and formulation of composer-performer theory, and application of these ideas in musical projects.

Students will learn about the contemporary American (as well as historical and international) traditions and practices of composer-performer practice through overviews and case studies.
