Creative Writing MFA students become life-long learners who conduct effective and ethical inquiry by asking meaningful questions about their writing practice, the literature they read and write, and the ways literature can help them gain both professional experience and spiritual insight.

Program Requirements

Note: English majors in the creative-writing track cannot also pursue a creative writing minor. Non-English major students preparing for BYU’s MFA program in creative writing are strongly encouraged to take ENGL 303 and at least one additional 300-level English literature seminar. See the English Department for further information.
